Summary of The New Adventures of Old Christine
Stepping out of the shadow cast by her role as Elaine on TV's venerable SEINFELD, Julia Louis-Dreyfus breaks new ground in her portrayal of divorcee Christine Campbell in this quirky series. A gym owner and single mother, Christine's on surprisingly good terms with her husband after the split. But she suffers a blow when her ex-husband, Richard (Clark Gregg), starts dating a younger woman, also named Christine. Inspired to start living her life again, "Old Christine" jumps back into the singles world with hilariously mixed results. While Louis-Dreyfus's comic sensibility hasn't lost its edge, with plenty of oddball situations and standoffs with "meanie moms," she lends her character an added note of vulnerability that gives the show an emotional core that SEINFELD, for all its nine seasons, didn't have.
