Summary of Pennies From Heaven
Dennis Potter's utterly brilliant BBC mini-series remains one of the most original works to ever appear on television. The story concerns Arthur Parker (Bob Hoskins), a married sheet music salesman who has fantasies of being a superstar songwriter himself. These delusions of grandeur often manifest themselves in the form of spectacular musical sequences. Along the way, Arthur begins to have an affair with Eileen (Cheryl Campbell), who becomes pregnant with his child. Although all signs point in the opposite direction, Arthur continues to hang on to his dream, even as his life begins to unravel. Surreal, magical, and exhilarating, Pennies From Heaven is television at its most awe-inspiring.
