Summary of Once and Again
Sela Ward and Billy Campbell star in this popular but short lived ABC series as Lily Manning and Rick Sammler, two forty-ish divorcees with children who find themselves hopelessly attracted to one another. Much of the drama of the series revolves around the couple's reluctance to enter into a serious relationship after their previous ones ended so badly, and while both have children entering the murky waters of adolescence. One of television's few shows that takes a sophisticated and engaging look at a mature couple, Once and Again also develops its teenage and preteen characters much more than many shows that focus on high school. Romantic, funny, and thoughtful, Once and Again is consistently intelligent, witty, and deeply involving, thanks in no small part to its two excellent lead actors, who happen to make a beautiful and charming couple.
