Personally, I was somewhat disappointed in the whole projection of it! This movie is based on a series of 3 books, written by James Mallory, and I think rather than trying to cram the entire story into a 3 hour movie, I think the producers should have made this into a miniseries, may be 3 or 4, or possibly 6 episodes.
There's so much that was left out of the movie... in particular, one of my favorite parts of the books, was when Merlin was being tutored by Frik, and Merlin went on that "field trip" with Lord Idath and was part of the Wild Hunt. This is when Lord Idath presented Merlin with the gift of Sir Rupert, his trusty steed and companion. This was one of my most cherished parts of the books, and I was really, really disappointed that this wasn't included in the movie... but I guess if they had put everything into the production, it would end up being a 12 hour movie.
I'm just saying I think they should have made this into a miniseries, rather than a three-hour motion picture.
