Summary of Island at War

This fictional tale is infused with a heavy dose of reality. Based on the experiences of the occupants who resided on the Channel Islands in 1940, Island at War offers a very real snapshot of what life could have been like if the Nazi threat had been successful. The Channel Islands were the only part of Britain to be occupied by the German army during the battle, with the residents having to undergo a horrendous five year ordeal at the hands of the Nazi's. Island at War draws on the experiences of the islanders, and spins a tale packed full of violence, romance, and incredible tension. Originally shown on Masterpiece Theater, this is a unique depiction of World War II that should have equal appeal to historians and television drama fans alike.
