Profile of Futurama

Futurama can be described as humorous, clever, and witty. The plot revolves around androids and robots, space and aliens, and a "fish out of water". Its comic aspect comes from satire. Futurama's main genres are comedy, animation, and sci-fi. In terms of style, it is futuristic and is surreal. In approach, it is not serious and fantastical. Futurama is set, at least in part, on a distant planet. The TV show has received attention for being an Emmy winner, critically acclaimed, and a cult favorite. It is well suited for a family outing and teens.

Summary of Futurama

Matt Groenig applied the same sensibility that made THE SIMPSONS a household name to the creation of this science fiction spoof, incorporating hilarious pop culture references and ultra-clever sight gags into its vision of the future. Fry is a hapless pizza delivery boy who accidentally gets himself cryogenically frozen, waking up 1000 years later in the year 2999. He finds himself working for his great-great-great-great-nephew, Professor Farnsworth, as a delivery boy in an intergalactic service. The staff also includes Leela, a feisty cyclops whom Fry befriended when she was still a fate assignment officer, and Bender, a chemically-dependant, suicidal robot. This crew faces countless obstacles in their missions to make their deliveries safely, as the future is a strange and unruly place, filled with odd creatures, new technologies, and strange and hilarious parallels to our own.

Bring it back!
Too bad they cut this series. This was one of my favorite animated shows. I can't seem to get into the late night adult swim on cartoon network, those shows are still a little too weird or graphic for me. This is a laid-back, humorous and witty...
