Freaks and Geeks, 1999 - 2000

With shows like 90210 and Gossip Girl out right now, you got to wonder what happened to shows like this. It's just as realistic as another great (and short-lived) high-school show My So-Called Life, but not as harsh. They never fall into the endless cliches of 95% of high-school shows these days. The acting is great from everyone, but the ones who really stood out for me were Lindsey (Linda Cardanelli) and Daniel (James Franco). The casting directors really knew what they were doing, as the selections were top-notch. Every character is 3-D, none of them are unrealistic caricatures of their personalities, that helps make the show that much more relateable. The music is sure to bring back some memories for those who lived in that era (as my mom did). This is simply a great show that cannot be missed, darn NBC for cancelling it.

I just discovered this TV show from a recommendation in Entertainment Weekly. It caught my interest because it was set in the early 80's. After watching the first episode, I was totally hooked. This is one of those rare shows that makes me feel like I've stepped back in time to celebrate moments in my life that will never compare to any other life experiences. The writing is amazing and the acting is superb-especially the actor that plays Bill. If you're looking for an intelligently written show that glorifies what it was like to be a teenage in the 80's--this is the show for you.
