Summary of Fingersmith

A mini-series from the BBC, FINGERSMITH is an adaptation of a novel from author Sarah Waters, who had her TIPPING THE VELVET brought so memorably to the screen by director Geoffrey Sax. The glittering cast includes Imelda Staunton (VERA DRAKE) and Charles Dance (GOSFORD PARK), while the title is a slang term used to describe thieves in the 1800s. The story follows a young girl as she grows up surrounded by a group of fingersmiths, whose devious ways mask their kindness in raising her. But when she is embroiled in a scheme to help a con man, she learns what deviancy really is, while also finding herself sexually attracted to another woman.

A cracking good tale. A dramatic/thriller. The perfect bookend to "Tipping The Velvet". This is the only movie that made me yell at my TV, when there was a tremendous plot twist, and I said "You Got Me...Ha". then I yelled, then I grabbed...
