A lot of talent and promise....can it continue
I LOVED! the first season. The acting, directing and scripting is great.
By the time the second season is ending, I'm liking less and less characters.
By halfway through the 3rd season I'm hating some of the main characters.

Unless I can love something about the main characters I tend not to enjoy the show
Perhaps it's time to back and watch some Entourage.

Looks promising
I started watching this series lately, and it looks promising - the gloomy, even bleak premise, the offbeat character who walks the grey line between right and wrong, the "I'm going to die I can finaly go through a character change + midlife crisis"...

Looks promising
I started watching this series lately, and it looks promising - the gloomy, even bleak premise, the offbeat character who walks the grey line between right and wrong, the "I'm going to die I can finaly go through a character change + midlife crisis" attitude.
Unlike one of the former reviewers claimed, I think the comparison to Dexter is in place. I find a lot of similarity between them (even to the point of - Dexter spoiler ahead - both anti-heroes having a pregnant wife... :).

This site says that if I like Dexter then I would like Breaking Bad. But Breaking Bad isn’t like Dexter at all. I find Dexter to be extremely story dense: each episode chocked full of important and memorable moments with no time wasted. Breaking Bad feels more like Mad Men: sloowww. I need a show that feels like it has a definite endpoint as well as a sense that I’m moving in a particular direction. This show doesn’t deliver in that regard. Often times I felt like I was waiting for things to happen (and the would, but perhaps I just wanted different things to happen—better, more interesting, things). After watching season one, I can say that there were five or six moments in the seven episodes that were quite fantastic, but that’s an overall low awesome moments to show ratio. Definitely more character-centric than story-centric, Breaking Bad should entertain you if you’re okay with its deliberately unhurried pace and lack of a satisfying arc. Who knows…perhaps season two is better. I don’t think I’ll ever know.

I find this to be one of the best series on TV today. Somewhat dark subject matter (cancer, making meth) but the writing and acting are both clever. Nicely gritty.
