Summary of Zero for Conduct
In Jean Vigo's satirical, anarchic film, Zero for Conduct, a troublesome trio of French boarding school students returns after summer vacation to the unbearable oppression of one "fish faced" teacher. Repeatedly receiving "zero for conduct" as a grade and getting punished on Sunday due to their mischievous ways, the trio hatches a plot to escape. The headmaster, however, has a student spy who may upset their plans for liberation. Banned by French censors for 12 years, Vigo's film is a funny, avant-garde champion of freedom from authority.
