The film lasts forever
The film is awful! Nothing happens, the guy in the film is not discovering anything. I fall asleep and never watched it to the end.
NEVER EVER. Waste of time

Was less about the killer/killings and more about the investigation, the cop(s), the reporters, etc. Still a pretty good story, just not great. If you don't have anything better to watch, give it a look.

Although the story develops slowly, the movie never gets dull or boring - thanks to the development of characters and the Zodiac puzzle. It really starts quite slowly and then takes off. The last thirty minutes of the movie are truly amazing. Especially the last two scenes.

I never really knew anything about the Zodiac killer and this was an incredibly detailed look into what happened and what (if anything) is currently taking place with it. The movie begins with the creepiness and then rolls into the characters involved in the investigation. All of this I enjoyed, especially getting to know the characters and their perspectives. However, as the movie rolls into its latter half, the movie slows to a crawl and I began losing interest. There is too much detail to Jake's character running around and so little personality that you sit there longing for the end to come and let you know who it was and what happened. I think it's a good movie that needed a bit of editing for some of us. Kind of a disappointment too (at least for me) from Fincher.

An epic film that finally captures the Zodiac case in a realistic yet captivating manner. With great casting and an even better director in David Fincher there is no reason to make or view another Zodiac film after this 07 release. Just remember that this is about the case and is not an action film about chasing the killer. It's a throwback to a more adult film with alot of talking involved but in no way should that be interpreted as boring. You are brought into the Zodiac case and the time period it happend in and for over 2 1/2 hours you find out way this case has caught the public attention till this day. Unless you lived through that time period and followed the case closely this film will shed new information on a case that is bizzarre yet fasinating on many levels. See this movie and re-live the terror that gripped San Fransico for many years.

David Fincher adds yet another intelligent thriller to his resume with this film, which I feel is his most mature work to date. Unlike his previous works, Zodiac doesn't rely on an overly twisty ending (Fight Club, The Game) or shocking, gory violence (Se7en) to thrill its audience. It relies simply on good story-telling. Well, ok, there is some violence, but its mostly in the first half of the film, and it's necessary to make the audience despise the villain, the Zodiac killer, and hope that our heroes prevail in tracking him down. This is especially important considering the second half is basically a long, intricate, action-free, but still fascinating detective story involving three men (Gyllenhaal, Ruffalo, and Downey Jr.) whose personal and professional lives begin to fall apart over their decades-long obsession with finding this enigmatic killer.

Fincher hits another home run. One of my friends, after seeing this in the theater, described it as "too talk-y", which made me worry we were in for another "Black Dahlia", but this film blows "Black Dahlia" out of the water. Fincher's standard pacing, intense camera work and artful mis en scene are all present in spades. The killing scenes are intense and brutally real, while somehow still remaining Fincher-esque. There might not be any car chases, but this one still got my blood pumping.

If you've read the Robert Graysmith book, you will love this movie. If you've not read the book, you will still enjoy the movie but may find it overly long or too detailed. For me, it's almost two movies in one. The first movie involves the police investigation. The second picks up Graysmith's personal journey with Zodiac as the case goes cold.

"Zodiac" boasts fine acting and altogether high production values in the service of a true-crime story. But at more than 2-1/2 hours, it's at least 1 hour too long. And you can see where all that extra time went -- into a profusion of details that the viewer eventually finds mind-numbing. Aside from length, there are two other problems: The main story, which concerns the hunt for the Zodiac killer, is admirably realistic and true to the facts, but that also means we don't get the drama and suspense that a noose tightening around a fictional killer might provide. Rather, the detective story is kind of inconclusive. Second, a key element in the plot involves the obsession with the Zodiac case of a nerdy cartoonist played well by Jake Gylleenhaal. Despite the fine acting, we never get a sense of why this fellow loses his girlfriend, his job, and (at times, it seems) his mind over a case he really has nothing to do with.
