10/10Must See
Part of the great appeal of this movie is the unpredictability of it. Ben Kingsley as a thug? Wonderful! His Buffalo accent impressed me, as did his ability to make Frank both scary and sympathetic. Tea Leoni is marvelous as Laurel, a woman who is edgy and lonely and whose seeming respectability is brought into question by her choices, choices that most of us would never make but that she ultimately makes believable for her character.
There is a lot of dry comedy here, as well as dark comedy. The writing is terrific and the dialogs smart. The characters are wonderfully complex, and while they are played very straight by the actors, the whole movie has a great undertone of barely suppressed silliness. We loved this movie!

I'll have to agree to disagree with all the positive comments. I found this movie to be boring and lacking any real comedic value whatsoever. I tried really hard to get into the story, but after two false starts (I kept falling asleep) and finally getting through it on a full pot of coffee, it just really wasn't worth the effort made. I'm not dissing those who liked/ loved it, it just didn't do a thing for me. I think I will stick to straight Mob/Gangster & separate comedy flicks, this didn't merge the two very well at all.

A truly quirky dark comedy that would be worth a second viewing. Like The Madator with Greg Kinner, this film is a bizzare yet unforgettable film. This may not be the film for you if your not into more "independent" type of movies. If you want an offbeat film with some heart and character then You Kill Me is a must see. Ben Kingsley as the alcoholic Hitman and Tea Lenoni as the love interest complemented each other as did the addition of Luke Wilson (as the sponsor). I would have paid to see this film in the theater but was happy to catch it on DVD. It's always nice to come across films that surprise you with a wierd storyline and well done acting. When you see this film, fix yourself a drink and take a journey with an alcoholic hitman. You won't be bored at all!!

This is a really well-done black comedy mobster movie. While it isn't full of laugh-out-loud moments, it still delivered with a great story and excellent direction. It further affirmed the outstanding acting abilities that I already loved in Tea Leoni and Ben Kingsley. I enjoyed this a lot, and didn't want it to be over so soon. Hopefully they can manage a sequel! Be sure to watch the one special feature about the visual effects in the movie, it was a very interesting cherry on top.

If you can get past the fact that the protaganist in this movie is an alcoholic mob assasin who is tasked to get sober soley so that he can kill people with more efficiency, then you will like this movie. Otherwise, really don't bother with it. The supporting characters help make it a better than average sardonic wanna-be noir film with Tea Leoni showing off her impressive comedic timing and Luke Wilson playing it straight for once (except minus points for the movie haphazardly bring up the fact that he's gay for no other reason than to round out his character). The director was obviously going for a "hip" black comedy with an anti-hero, and Ben Kingsley plays it really dry and cool which makes for some some deadpan, funny zingers every now and again. You believe that Frank is a scary killer, but he's also sad and a little pathetic. I guess you can say that his Frank is on a quest not just to be a better killer but also a better man, but it's really a stretch. It's also a stretch to believe that his love interest Laurel (Tea Leoni) and AA sponsor (Luke Wilson) would just shrug off their knowledge of his job, but like I said, if you just accept the basic premise and just enjoy the subtle humor, you'll enjoy the movie.

About 30 years ago, pop culture was obsessed with Nazis. Finally, the Third Reich was replaced by Serial Killers. And now the archetype that's been artlessly overexposed in a zillion pop novels and films is The Hitman. Somehow, despite film studios large and small, here and abroad, churning out films with every sort of hitman character, "You Kill Me" manages to provide a somewhat refreshing (or at least not unutterably tired) wrinkle on the killer for hire. The director wisely keeps the "hit" business in the background, and superior acting from Ben Kingsley and Tea Leoni -- who actually have some screen chemistry -- holds our interest. That's not to say that the film isn't both predictable and far-fetched, but at least it's enjoyable as well.
