This is one of the worst movies ever made. The fact that somebody listed to the pitch and bought it is nothing short of mind-boggling. That it actually managed to get enough money to have numerous non-sequitor cameos is just amazing. That the cameos themselves appears in this movie is heartbreaking. This movie proves that Adam Sandler could literally crap into a paper sack and someone will give him a lot of money for it.
My girlfriend, who's an enormous fan of Sandler, and i sat through this entire piece of tripe without once laughing out loud. The whole time we were both groaning and pining for the end to come. The only reason why we didn't simply eject the disc is because it is a lot like watching a car accident.

As someone who has lived in Israel, this film does a very good job of humorously portraying Israeli culture as well as the Israeli/Palestinian conflict. I felt the comedy was a lot more complex and deeply thought out than a lot of Adam Sandler films...

As someone who has lived in Israel, this film does a very good job of humorously portraying Israeli culture as well as the Israeli/Palestinian conflict. I felt the comedy was a lot more complex and deeply thought out than a lot of Adam Sandler films and for that I give him props.

The first half is pretty funny I have to admit. Sure, most of what Zohan does is unbelievable, but overall the stuff was pretty funny for a while. All of the actors perform their roles to perfection, and the antics of Zohan are amusing and sometimes...

The first half is pretty funny I have to admit. Sure, most of what Zohan does is unbelievable, but overall the stuff was pretty funny for a while. All of the actors perform their roles to perfection, and the antics of Zohan are amusing and sometimes downright funny. The sexual jokes do get unfunny after the 100th time of the same thing and that's where I think the movie started to get unfunny. About half way through, the movie runs out of gas - or funny story as it were. It regrinds the same premises that were set up in the first half and pulls in a completely pointless subplot involving Rob Schneider (who is very unfunny in his role I must say). All this leads up to a completely predictable and boring ending. In review - the first half is pretty funny, the second half fails to deliver.

A good surprise
I don't usually connect to the humor of Adam Sandler, but this movie got me to laugh a lot. And it's not just because I'm an Israeli and this movie is about an Israeli secret agent starting over. Actually a lot of the humor in it speaks more to the non-Israeli audience, and for me it was fun to see myself through someone else's eyes. All in all - a harmless film that's fun to watch with friends on a casual night.
