The animation is solid, the voices are a lot of fun, and the premise for the story is something totally unique and fresh. The biting satire on humanity's current condition and course was very well done and greatly appreciated.

The animation is solid, the voices are a lot of fun, and the premise for the story is something totally unique and fresh. The biting satire on humanity's current condition and course was very well done and greatly appreciated.
However, sentient A.I. has always been the breaking point of my suspension of disbelief, unless there's some foundation in reality or literary precedent (I'm fine with the ship's Hal-esque Autopilot, for example). But the robot-romance thing, while fairly original, just seems a bit... well, no matter. Overall, it's a good film, the kids will love it, and that's all that really matters anyway.

This movie was good. Pixar is the master of animation, and the story line was good as well. But I don't normally like my politics in movies. It felt like I was being preached at the whole time, somehow. If that wasn't the case, this would have been...

I liked it a lot, I gotta be honest. I liked how they could convey emotions and personality with little to no dialogue and mostly eyes on the robots. I was listening to the sounds more in this movie than I usually would too, and the sound effects...

I liked it a lot, I gotta be honest. I liked how they could convey emotions and personality with little to no dialogue and mostly eyes on the robots. I was listening to the sounds more in this movie than I usually would too, and the sound effects were just impressive. As usual, the animation (video) is excellent. The story may not be as strong as some other Pixar releases, but it's entertaining all the same and I'd recommend it for all humans and robots alike.

Wall-E, for the lack of a better word, is a masterpiece. A love story between two robots that cannot say much more than each others name, in a world deserted by humans. Yeah, I didn't think I'd like it either, but that's where the genius comes in....

Wall-E, for the lack of a better word, is a masterpiece. A love story between two robots that cannot say much more than each others name, in a world deserted by humans. Yeah, I didn't think I'd like it either, but that's where the genius comes in. The movie just does amazing stuff with the premise, never feeling constrained or struggling with its lack of characters. It manages to be very very funny, without seeking mainstream popular culture references as a comedic crutch, and also, very romantic. You're rooting for this small animated robot, and every time the sparks fly when they "kiss", you feel like cheering. This movie captured for me the romance that countless others have failed too. There are no over the top good heroes, no over the top evil villains. Finally, I loved the pretty tight (and scary!) sci-fi story, and the references to loads of geeky stuff (look out for "asteroids") and old scifi movies. To do this day, I sometimes say "Eeeva" in an imploring tone when I want something bad :)
