Two Weeks Notice, 2002

I'm not a big fan of Hugh Grant but I must say I enjoyed About A Boy even though he even narrated the story. In Two Weeks notice I can't stand him playing another spoiled millionaire. Sandra Bullock plays an activist lawyer who will lay in front of a community center about to be wrecked by a big corporation. Hugh Grant is a man behind but he is such a ignorant he seems like he doesn't know what he is doing. He need a new employee to handle his corporate affairs and so happens Bullock character has an excellent resume even thouhg she worked for Peace Corp before. Why he hires her is beyond me but they work out a deal where she keeps her beloved community center and works for him until they build up the are all around this center (they build condos therefore their evil). Millionaire boss proves to be annoying and she wants to quite. Yet the agreement she made and signed is so good that he can make other companies not employ her. It pretty simple but I don't get why she can't go back to working in Peace Corps, can big corporations influence them so easily? Most of the time little to no chemistry can between between the two main characters. There is few laughs when Grant talks to Bullock but not that great. His dominant characteristic - ignorant snob is not that well pointed out. He ask her to decide on what to wear to a Beuty contest, which envelope to take and.. that it. It's a breeze when we learn she doesn't like it (in fact two captions say '4 month later' and '6 months later'). This should have been a funny montage fails with no pace or impact. The harder is to believe she falls for him later, even when he played strip chess with a new female lawyer and didn't show much interest in Bullock's character. One redeeming element is it's view on architecture. There is an interesting quote that starts with "Architecture can shape society ..." A Flyby view of New Your and some brief history of chrysler building. The community center itself is a historical building. It is not that much fun though. There is plenty of romantic comedies and many of them feature a millionaire that falls in love. Two weeks notice fails to distinguish itself from the crowd and on itself is lacking on romance and humor.
