Twelve, 2010

A story about a teenage boy who lost his mother at a young age, and is now living in the memory of that loss. To add to the craziness of his life, his father also loses his restaurant business. The boy (one of the Gossip Girl male model actors) steps into the father role of providing financially for the family by becoming a drug dealer. It is basically a movie of partying, drinking, drugs, all around teenage debauchery. It is sad that Mike (the main character) keeps falling so far away from what could be a good healthy place for him and as a teenager doesn’t really realize it. Not the best of films, but pretty good to see how the kids are living these days.

In premise, it is a bleak and emotional coming of age film, filled with down on their luck characters and sincerity that makes you really feel for the characters. In reality, the bad acting and mediocre directing make it seem like a cheap imitation to The OC. It was dull, anticipated and with no real message about being a teenager on the verge of adulthood and was sometimes just a tasteless show of violence and nudity.
