Tron review:
Tron is the story of Sam Flynn (played by Garrett Hedlund), who the son of a game designer who disappears without a trace when Sam is just a boy. Sam decides to search for his father after receiving a clue that leads him to an old Arcade, where he is transported into the virtual world of Tron - the very game that his father had designed.
Visually stunning and fantastically alien, with a very suitable soundtrack by Daft Punk, but even with these outstanding qualities this film fails to live up to standards, as aside from the action scenes it is largely slow moving to the point of boredom, and the story ends somewhat disappointingly after a long wait.
This film would fit well in an expensive, and lengthy elevator.
Two stars from me.

A must see ONLY if you were a fan of the 1980's arcade game; otherwise so-so
I wanted to watch this with my computer-crazy-geeky 14 year old nephew, and my 12 year old niece, but ended watching it on my own. I loved the movie because I loved the arcade game from the 1980's, but I am fairly certain my nephew and niece would have been bored with this. as would audiences unfamiliar with the video game. I think the producers did an excellent job of incorporating the video game into the movie, and Jeff Bridges and Olivia Wilde delivered strong performances, but I think the average viewer would be bored.

Mes seuls regrets seront l'abondance de plans tournés uniquement en studio (mais bon, le film veut ça aussi) et le scénario un poil trop prévisible. Mais cela reste un bon divertissement, avec très peu de longueurs et sa construction typique aux grosses productions américaines ^^

The costumes in this movie was pretty cool! Seriously, Imma just buy a bunch blue glow sticks couple roles of tape and black tights. BAM a program or software in tron. Speaking of all that computer stuff. I thought it was interesting how the characters were "deleted" instead of died...ed. Anyway, I had no idea there was a first one. But i cannot imagine what its like, i think this version is more technologically relevant. Pretty predictable storyline but doesnt take away from the movie. Not a spectacular plotline or anything but has pretty cool visuals.

It's been a few years since I saw Tron, but I remember liking it mainly because I was impressed at the lingo & concepts used in 1982, many years before I ever had a computer. This sequel did not impress. It did not introduce any new or upcoming technologies into the storyline, unless you count the large Microsoft-Surface-like tables. The visual style and effects are interesting for the first 30 minutes, but you are stuck in neon glow-stick land for hours. I almost fell asleep in a $14 3D movie that cranks the subwoofers to 11. If the plot involved the real world at all it would have helped break up the monotony, but I guess they were more interested in maxing out their CGI budget with action scenes. Which brings up another point: WE CAN TELL WHEN FACES ARE COMPUTER GENERATED. It's a virtual world, so you can either make everyone look like video game characters, or use real actors. Do not mix the two. But the movie isn't all bad, you get to stare into Olivia Wilde's eyes for quite some time.

I love technological beauty, lucid dreaming kind of spaciousness and free flight, some computer games and Daft Punk. If you share the tastes -watch this movie, otherwise - forget it. Tron is shown in 3D and I sincirelly doubt if it would deliver...

The power of 3D
I love technological beauty, lucid dreaming kind of spaciousness and free flight, some computer games and Daft Punk. If you share the tastes -watch this movie, otherwise - forget it. Tron is shown in 3D and I sincirelly doubt if it would deliver even 1/10th of the impression if shown in regular format. In 3D you have this amazing feeling of spaciousness and drifting in a world of neon lights, accompanied by a very nice soundtrack. But even despite this visual beauty, there were moments when I was yawning and looking at the wrist watch. The screenplay is weak, the dialogs are absurd, no interesting characters and it looks really painful how great Jeff Bridges tries to make a drama out of this weak story. But who cares - it's so visually beautiful and I feel like a teenager again :)

Terrible. Awful. Truly horrible. Don't waste your time. Even the 3D is less than stunning when all it shows is the remarkably stark, sterile world of a computer program. Nothing to rave about there.

Amazing visual effects and a nice continuation
Legacy is a nice sequel. There is something nice about sequels that are made so much time after the original, and keep the original cast. The characters sink in and the story feels like a natural continuation and not some cheap ploy to earn more...
