Why hasn't Ewan McGregor acted this well ever again
Dude, I love you. Thank you for redeeming the Star Wars prequels from the pit of despair. But you make us BELIEVE you do heroin. You were golden, magical and encompass so much grime and redemption. The part of this movie that has stayed with me the longest is the irony with Renton's friend, Tommy. When Renton feels the guilt about what happend. Oh, Tommy. Heroin indeed is the ultimate hit. Better than sex.

My sister made me watch it (she knew I was a fan of Ewan McGregor) and she tempted me even more telling me I'd see his cute little butt! So, I gave in and watched it. I am not usually the kind of person to watch movies about druggies/junkies/drug...

My sister made me watch it (she knew I was a fan of Ewan McGregor) and she tempted me even more telling me I'd see his cute little butt! So, I gave in and watched it. I am not usually the kind of person to watch movies about druggies/junkies/drug addiction, whatever, but I was pleasantly surprised by how much I actually liked this movie. It was funny, sad, disgusting (at times) and it actually had a happy ending! I'm a sucker for those, for sure! The characters were great, wonderful acting, great plot. Just an all around great movie! 4/5 I would totally recommend it!

Great defining movie of the 90's which depicts the events of one person who "chose not to choose life," and chooses heroin instead. Almost as good as the book.

Such a good film!
If there ever was a film that could convince teenagers "Don't do drugs" - this is the one. It is cool, witty and funny on one hand, but rough on the other hand. It's a sad story about how drug abuse is such a hard habit to stop. It illustrates what a drug addict goes through, how he feels and what he feels. There are some surreal scenes that actually help the viewer understand all that more vividly. And even though the ending seems positive - under the surface it's not. The soundtrack is excellent in my view, and so is the acting. This is a film that you can enjoy, but that also lingers and makes you think about it.
