Summary of They All Laughed
Shot on location in New York City, Peter Bogdanovich's madcap comedy follows the lives and loves of the employees of the Odyssey Detective Agency and the subjects of their investigations. Timid Charles Rutledge (John Ritter) has developed a crush on Dolores Martin (Dorothy Stratten), who is suspected of cheating on her mate. Meanwhile, ladies man John Russo (Ben Gazzara) is flirting with beautiful cabbie Sam (Patti Hansen), annoying a former love, country-western singer Christy Miller (Colleen Camp), and embarking on an affair with the subject of his investigation, the lovely Angela Niotes (Audrey Hepburn). Even Odyssey's owner, Leon Leondopolous (George Morfogen), gets in on the action by having an affair with his secretary. In an unfortunate real-life footnote, just prior to the film's release former Playboy Playmate Stratten--who was also Bogdanovich's mistress--was brutally murdered by her estranged husband, who then committed suicide.
