Now the old movie tho a classic is a little cheesy and stale…true story. Geez hate me if you want lol. The remake though a little predictable stayed true to the classic and added its own twists and turns. Not to mention that our modern FX really helped. The movie plot? A brother returns home to seek his brother…a werewolf bites him…he goes all howl at the moon in no time…tragic ending.

Put "THE WOLFMAN" at the top of your "Must to Avoid" list unless you have a insatiable desire to see how millions of dollars can evaporate on the screen. There is virtually nothing to like in this dog. It's not even a howlingly bad movie, but instead a deadly dull film that looks like it was shot with a smoked-glass filter on the lens so you can't even enjoy the sets or costumes. The inane script has needless complications and extraneous characters, the bombastic dialog is laughingly bad, the actors sound like they're sleepwalking through their roles, and on top of everything else it isn't the least bit scary. This is one of those movies that make you scratch your head in wonder: How was it ever made? Didn't they look at the daily rushes? Didn't they hear the hollow and stupid dialog? The 1940s original, itself a B-movie with hardly top actors, so outshines this modern version that you get a new appreciation for economical story-telling and directors who know what they're doing. Avoid it at all costs.

Bad movie
I expected a lot from a movie that has Benicio Del Toro and Anthony Hopkins in it. I was disappointed to find out it's just not good. The best thing I can say about this movie is that Emily Blunt that was also in it is pretty. The worst thing I can say about it is that they even managed to screw up the Wolfman's howling that sounds like it's a Wolfman without balls...

disappointing...
unfortunately, it is nothing more than a b-movie...
when I first read about this film I was under the impression it was supposed to be the more sophisticated version of the whole wolfman myth. but whether such intentions existed or not, the final result is not much more than a mediocre b-movie, which uses the old "boo!" tricks in order to fright you instead of creating true creepy atmosphere.

Okay. Complete honesty. Terrible, beyond acceptance, performances by all leads aside from Hugo Weaving, who is only eclipsed by the pure awesomeness that is the Wolfman. Brutal, gorgeous and a respectful homage in the creatures design - hell, it just works. Every time I saw that drooling jaw, and actual man-in-suit fur, I couldn't help but sit wide-eyed and dope-grinned.
Unfortunately, everything else is a let down. While the time period works to the film's advantage as nearly every shot is full of visual beauty and gloom, the story and performances fall pretty limp.
Though, beyond all means: if you like B-movie horror, have a taste for old school monster flicks or simply carry a fetish for unleashing the beast within, "The Wolfman" is a great time and I hope reboots of the rest of the Universal Monster gang continue.
