13th Warrior meets Ming Dynasty Warrior Movie
Wow. I didn't expect much when I rented this movie but it ended up being one of the most powerful heroic-warrior themed movies I've ever seen. It has everything, cunning military strategy, combat, romance, dramatic climactic battles, and a very interesting historical backdrop. It is a Korean movie, about Korean emissaries who are on their way out of China after there is peace between the Chinese and Korean emperor. They then rescue a Ming princess played by Ziyi Zhang (who else). This is very different from her other roles with possibly the only exception being Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon. What both her characters have in common in both movies is an evil undertone and the cause of the death of may heroic warriors. The movie is low budget but they have done an incredible job with what they have. The character development is one of the best amongst movies of this kind and in that way reminds me of the 13th Warrior. If you are into movies in this genre, but want something different (the cross Korean / Ming dynasty Chinese theme is very interesting). A must see.
