This movie had alot of potential but from the opening scene it fell flat on its face. I have never read this comic but because of this movie I have no interest in it. It's like an hour and a half of monologues with no destination toward an ending....

It's like an hour and a half of monologues with no destination toward an ending. Great visuals. Pokemon-type action(much less). Long winded actors. Nice bottoms. That's the movie. It's like a pretty foil wrapped present with no contents inside.

Hmmm...
This movie is interesting to look at. every shot is extremely comics-like, almost in an exaggarated way, but it still is interesting to the eye.
The story, however, is so ridiculous at points that I could hardely contain my laughter. plus the dramatic narration is way TOO dramatic.
I'd recommend it only if you're really into examining interesting visual styles.

I love Will Eisner's "The Spirit." This barely resembled it. It has much more in common with "Sin City," which Frank Miller actually deserves fully credit as creator. Thing is, don't go looking to this movie as a follow-up to "Sin City," for this one has Miller on his own, without the actual filmmakers Robert Rodriguez and Quentin Tarantino. Instead we have to settle for a story written by the wrong guy (Miller, not Eisner, in a poor adaptation, with many unnecessary and unwise additions and subtractions), no seasoned director, and just the Cinematographer of "300." Sure, there are some cool visuals, as expected, but it's not enough to do justice to the original. I hope this doesn't go down as giving any ownership to Frank Miller. "The Spirit" is still Will Eisner's.

Frank Miller is a great visual artist. He paints pretty pictures and makes good artwork. Frank Miller is not a good director. At all! The Spirit has a lot of visual dazzlement and pizazz but it is a terrible, terrible movie. The actors in this movie are awful. They are either cardboard or (in Sam Jackson��s case) devour the scene. Frank Miller also has no sense of comedic timing or even any idea of how to actually tell a joke. There were moments where I knew I should have been laughing but every attempted joke just fell flat. All of the goon clones (I forget what they��re called in the movie) are incredibly annoying from the first moment they appear onscreen. The plot makes no sense so I won��t even bother repeating it here.
I��m really surprised this movie got away with a PG-13 rating. The opening of the movie has two characters brutally beating the crap out of each other for about 5 minutes, a character��s hand gets blown off, people are decapitated, a character commits seppuku and people are shot multiple times. I suppose this is because everything is rather cartoony but I still found it to be rather grusome at times.

Like all the women in it, but none of them have anything interesting to do except for perhaps Paz Vega who had the smallest part. Would give it a 1 if not for the cast.
