Summary of The Slipper and the Rose
A British musical based on the Cinderella fairy tale. Chamberlain is Prince Edward of Euphrania, who is being forced to marry a princess in order to form an alliance between his and the princess's countries to stave off an impending war. Enter Cinderella, who, after being granted one night of happiness by her fairy godmother, meets and falls in love with the prince at a ball, but, of course, has to leave before midnight, leaving the prince with only a glass slipper as a clue to his new love's identity. This often overlooked musical has many ardent fans as well as lyrics and music by the famed duo who brought you MARY POPPINS, THE JUNGLE BOOK, and CHITTY CHITTY BANG BANG.
