This films is really just great. Amazing actually, but the end kind of ruins it. It's just to hollywood. Sorry, yes, a bit of a spoiler I guess but yea, the end is to hollywood. But all the rest is just amazing. I would have given it 9/10 or even 10/10 if it hadn't have been for the ending. It was cute 'n' all, but a bit to goodfeel in comparison to the rest of the film.

One of the greatest movies of all time, and I honestly believe that will be the answer of anyone you speak to who has had the pleasure of seeing it. An excruciatingly sad film with the happiest of endings. When I first saw this movie in the early 90’s when it came out, I remember thinking there was no way I was going to sit through such a long film. These days, it is not even considered to be that long, but honestly the time goes by without even realizing it because it is such a well developed story with some of the most heartfelt characters.

Very inspiring and captivating film. There will be few surprises in it for anyone familiar with many of the classic prison films (Brute Force, I Am a Fugitive from a Chain Gang, Escape From Alcatraz, Papillon, Longest Yard, etc.), owing to the fact that "Shawshank" seems to borrow the best plot points from all of them. But what it lacks in originality, it makes up for in other areas like acting, scripting, pacing, music, and cinematography. In short, it takes the best elements of those other prison films and recreates them to greatest effect in order to produce the ultimate prison film.

Simply the best movie ever made.
The story follows the undying spirit of Andy who is incarcerated after being convicted of murdering his wife.
Very true to the Stephen King novel, but less graphic.

This movie was easily one of the years best, winning a slew of oscars and other awards. Hanks was flawless in his acting and morgan freeman wasn't too bad himself. A read heartthrob story that will bring tears to anyones eyes. 10/10!

Best Movie I have ever seen!
This movie encompasses friendship, faith and compassion. Initially I was not interested in seeing it at all. As the story slowly unfolded, it left me riveted. The story of a man who is falsely accused of murdering his wife and the life-altering friendship that he makes in prison. There is no action or suspense, just two men interacting and getting to really know each other. I thoroughly recommend it, it will change the way you view all your interactions.
