Very Boring
This was a very boring movie, long periods of nothing happening. Story was not told very well at all, didn't feel for the characters one bit.

A sad, depressive movie, just for the sake of being sad and depressive.
Depressive, very depressive. But in a REALLY bad way. It's just there to make you feel bad...

The father is annoying and just too blind for it to be true. He doesn't want to see goodness and anyone and he's so distant from reality that you can't really connect with him. The little boy and the ending are the only elements that make this movie slightly less depressive and self-loathing.
an overall meh, a painfull hearaching disgusted meh.

It's depressing, but in a bad way. You can't really feel any emotions towards the characters. There were many scenes in this movie that just felt pointless and just there to traumatize you. Read the review by Will below me. He took the words out of my mouth. I gave it 3 star since it was nicely shot. I really don't feel this movie should be praised.

Staying true to the book but not so it is a complete copy by adding in extra elements which is good. I wouldn't recommend this to those who want to feel depressed because the film is dark and melancholic and you may need a comedy box set at the ready but without that element it wouldn't be keeping it real as this could actually happen. Viggo Mortensen being my favourite actor didn't disappoint, his quality of performance is exceptional and deserves many acclaim for this piece. Kodi for a young person really embraced his role and you can really believe in him and imagine how it would be for children his age who would go through this experience.

The first thing that struck me about this film was it's total and utter melancholy presentation. Cannibalism, suicide, starvation and lost hope, hooray! Then it never stopped. The little boy irked me with his constant whimpering and the father aggravated me further with his laughable decision making. There wasn't even anything memorable or entertaining about the story. I won't even go into details about the mother's character, because her actions and the general attitude of the characters in the movie were insulting to my collective willpower. If I ever accidentally stumble upon another showing of this feature I will immediately change the channel. I have to give it two stars because of the decent production value, beyond that, it was depressing and sub par in every respect. I would highly recommend this film to anyone who typically enjoys lame, forgettable movies.

I don't know what it is about post-apocalyptic films that makes me love them so much. Although it was slow in pace, it was very much captivating. It's something about the human nature that this film is giving the makes it so appealing. Seeing how a man changes by fear and by hunger, and how a young kid, full of optimism, stays the same. The ending was a delight in my opinion, cared for in a very emotional manner.

A pale shadow of the book it's based on, "THE ROAD" is a disappointing movie. Granted, the book must be almost impossible to film -- it's short on dialog and action, and long on precise, emotive prose. And granted, the actors in the film do a decent, albeit far from exceptional job. But the film has none of the nuances of the book. It is a father-son tale; nothing more. The film is absolutely worth seeing, if only because it is different, its theme is important, and its look is unusual. But don't expect much depth. Note: The DVD contains a "making of" that is a boring love-fest wherein the principals of the film trade compliments, not really deserved.
