The Pink Panther 2, 2009

'Why did they have to make a sequel?' That is what I found myself asking after I saw this. I was excited when I heard news of a second Pink Panther with Steve Martin, because the first one, to me, was highly amusing and enjoyable. I really don��t know where to start with this one, so I will just say what needs to be said: This one was nowhere near the caliber of the first. The Pink Panther 2 centered around the love story of Jacques and Nicole, or the lack thereof, and not solely on what this movie should really be about: THE PINK PANTHER!!!! The banality almost made me gag, and it makes me sad because I really wanted to like this film. Sure, there are its funny moments, but it was pretty much a disappointment in my book. And, as much as I love John Cleese, I think that Kevin Kline made the better Dreyfus. This movie gets 3 stars mostly for the partnership that is Ponton (Jean Reno) and Clouseau (Steve Martin). Otherwise, this film would get no more than 2 stars. 2/12/09
