The Passion of the Christ, 2004

If you know anything about the Bible, you probably don't need to see this movie unless you want to know exactly what a crucifixion looks like. If you just want to watch a nice guy be mercilessly tortured for an extended period of time, then this is the movie for you. You pretty much have to be either a Christian or a sadist to enjoy this movie. Or a masochist, I guess. There are some funny moments. The depiction of Satan, for example. Hilariously bad. A flashback in which Jesus invents the modern table. Ridiculously bad. The acting isn't bad; the script is at least mediocre; and you can tell Gibson & his crew really tried. But there's only so much you can do with a story everyone's already heard before.
