This movie completely lost me in the last few minutes and more specifically, in the last line of dialog. Without considering this, the rest of the movie is enjoyable if you like the fast-paced drama of shows like Fox's 24. It's a bit thrown together, so don't view it expecting a classic movie, but rather a one-viewing TV style drama--3 stars for this portion of the movie.
SPOILER ALERT.....
However, in the last few minutes, the writers/producers chose to (a) kill the most heroic and likable Muslim--for no purpose, and (b) morally equate the backwards medieval woman-slaving aboriginal Muslim world with the west by summing up each others' motives as nothing more than killing the other.
Of course, while people treat these two cultures as morally equivalent, there will in fact be nothing but an endless war while the west erroneously apologizes for respecting individual rights and pursuing worldly goals instead of devoting their lives to the forced slavish devotion to Allah as interpreted by the Imams.

What should have been a three star movie with an actor (Jamie Foxx) who I'm not crazy about ended up being four stars due to the content and the last half an hour which had insane action. Peter Berg who did the Rundown with the Rock directed an even better film in the Kingdom. I read some good reviews on this film but the start and ending of the film were suberb. The middle part was not boring but setting up future events which had more tension and action than the latest Die Hard film. A very good cast an interesting current topic and an ending that will leave you tense makes this film a surprise from 07. Again this film should have been an easy three stars but the following things I mentioned brought it to strong four stars. A great viewing and worth watching again down the road with possible Three Kings.

This is an ample, functional and even entertaining action flick, but it fails on one of it's main goals: to make a statement about the war on terror. The film is told in a shaky, ultra-modern style, which alone detracts from any statements being made about what the action may signify on a larger scale; the performances are more than ample, but are nearly upstaged by editing that appears to have it's own (nebulous) agenda. Watch to be entertained, but not to be politically stimulated.

The Kingdom is a well made action thriller. The setting of Saudi Arabia is the thing that makes some think this is more of a message movie. It is not. The tension is high throughout the film, and the setting provides a slightly different set of rules than the usual fare. In the film they do play by the rules of the Saudi society. I feel that is one of the things that lifts this film over other similar films. A great cast is used well, with the exception of Jenifer Garner, who unfortunately isn't given much to do except cry occasionally.
Overall a better than average thriller.

I have to agree with the other reviewer, I was feeling like I was going to throw-up. The movie needs work and should be at least 30 minutes shorter. The handheld, camera shaking technique was annoying, nauseating, and took away from the film.
