After not having seen this movie for many years, I decided to re-watch it. I more understood what was happening in the movie, compared to when I was younger, and I found that I actually liked it. Not as serious as it could be, but everything flows together. The acting is great, and I found myself chuckling at the familiar lines "Wax on, Wax off...Wax on wax off..." The Lessons Daniel learns are familiar, and quite possibly a bit cheesy, but you will enjoy watching him learn them. Definitely a classic, and even those who done like sports or fighting (like me) will enjoy it.

An unforgettable movie with the usual story of good versus evil. The underdog and unlikely winner discovers that he does have the heart of a champion and wins at the end. Even with this obvious end the movie is still a beautiful classic. Mr. Miyagi makes an unforgettable character and in my case it sent me into 15 years of Karate Practice. All of the movies in the series are great, however the first one is the best of them all.
It has marked the life of a whole generation of people who will forever copy the crane position whenever they see a post they can stand on. If for some strange reason you haven't seen it, slap yourself silly and go rent it right now!

i love this movie, i can watch it once every few years and i enjoy it every time. Mr. Miyagi is definitely one of the most likable and memorable characters in cinema. The director also did Rocky in 1976. Karate Kid is a lot like Rocky: it's a feel good movie about underdogs, good for every age and any time. The music here is also great and it's a cult movie - wax on wax off, the crane kick...as a child this movie was something special for me and when i watch it now i can still see why.
