Certainly not the worst version of this story - that dubious honor belongs to the 90's B-movie version "Body Snatchers," which doesn't even merit a mention in the "We've Been Snatched Before" featurette on this disc.br
This version does fairly well on the creepiness factor, and the CDC angle is not bad. There are also some really nice subtle touches, like background news reports talking about the nuclear disarmament and peace treaties happening due to the invasion. The problem is that the filmmakers apparently felt that the subtle touches were too subtle, because they ALSO have several scenes of characters explaining in big bold letters the subtext of the film - one character even repeats his speech via voiceover at the end of the film!br
And there we have the other big big problem with this movie: the ending. I won't go into detail, but I can tell you that it completely goes against the tone that "Invasion of the Body Snatchers" films are supposed to have. Maybe this was meant to surprise the many people who have seen the other versions of the film, but it just doesn't work and cheapens the entire film.

Compared to every other version of this film made before, this one by far is the worst. It seemed to focus on Kidman's character and her child that it glosses over completely every aspect of the "invasion". While she's in chase scenes, you never get the feeling there's a chase going on, you know she's going to get away. Even the previous versions created moral situations for the primary character when confronted with converted people - here she's just whimpering or walking around without emotion. Yawn.

The reviews on this film were pretty bad but those reviews are 50/50. Some reviews are spot on and others are way off, I have to agree with the negative reviews and I was not expecting much when I popped the dvd in. I just wanted to be entertained and while it kept my interest and some parts were fun, overall it was a complete miss. See this film if your up late with little sleep and nothing else is on. Then you might dose off while watching it then wake up during the interesting parts. If you want to see people lose there minds while getting a diesase then just see 28 weeks later and that my friend you will completely enjoy. By the way I think Nicole Kidman's acting carrer if offically over.

The Invasion is just all right. Nothing spectacular happens that you haven't seen before. The trailer pretty much shows the entire movie, and just by reading the movie summary, you know the whole plot. It doesn't really have an ending... they pull...

The trailer pretty much shows the entire movie, and just by reading the movie summary, you know the whole plot. It doesn't really have an ending... they pull one of those fade outs to black. I just wasn't feeling The Invasion, I was very bored throughout. The most exciting scene is a short car chase near the end - But, you have to wait an hour to get to that part. I'm indifferent to this movie, it just has no point, nothing about it is really intriguing. It's just a alien body snatchers deal.

This is a whole lot better than most viewers and critics have give it credit for. It's pretty original (despite being a 'loose' remake) and, quite frankly, it scared the crap out of me a few times. Good enough for me.
