As Ohio's Democratic primary nears, charming Gov. Mike Morris (George Clooney) seems a shoo-in for the nomination over his opponent, Sen. Pullman (Michael Mantell) ]. Morris' idealistic press secretary, Stephen Meyers (Ryan Gosling), believes in his candidate's integrity and the democratic process. But Meyers' meeting with Pullman's campaign manager (Paul Giamatti) and a dalliance with a young intern (Evan Rachel Wood) set in motion events that threaten Morris' election chances.

Great performances in a mediocre movie
George Clooney has the magnetic personality that can carry almost anything. The rest of the cast in this film seem to take on a bit of his magic and are emminently watchable at every point in it's plot through (fairly obvious) political...
Lacks Depth
Clooney postponed this movie because of Barack Obama's election, and waited for the disenchantment to sink in, but the lack of depth on the political level, and an obsessive need to get the message across spoils a great cast.
