Summary of The Goodbye Girl
Neil Simon updates his successful stage and screen romantic comedy with this charming made-for-television version. THE GOODBYE GIRL tells the story of a divorcee, Paula McFadden (Patricia Heaton), who begins a new life with her daughter, Lucy (Hallie Kate Eisenberg). Paula's life is thrown for an even bigger loop when an egotistical actor, Elliot Garfield (Jeff Daniels), sublets her Manhattan apartment from her wayward boyfriend. Despite their initial hostility, this unlikely pair discovers romance as they help each other cope with the hardships of life in the big city. Directed by Richard Benjamin, THE GOODBYE GIRL features engaging performances from Heaton (EVERYBODY LOVES RAYMOND) and Daniels (DUMB AND DUMBER).
