I'm sure this rating will not be popular. It's purely based on my my more strict analyses stemming from the previous two movies and my more modern interpretation. First, This whole story felt out of scope in comparison to the previous films. Don't get me wrong, Wallach and Eastwood both did an amazing job together, but the prequels centered more around an unknown man (now suddenly Blondie?) doing what he felt necessary in the situation he was in. That simply wasn't what this movie was. Second, Eastwood really took second seat in this movie.'Blondie' is no longer going up against the regions bad guys for justice or money, he's going against the random events that Tuco really drags him along on. Not what you expect from an iconic EASTWOOD movie. Third, the writers hit the Civil War period drum way too hard. It overwhelmed the story. It may be pertinent, it was just overdone. Fourth and probably the most erking to me was the fact that the man who took no s&*t from anyone, was all of the sudden lamenting, even sympathizing with a man whom tried to kill him on more than one occasion. What? It just felt wrong! I will admit it's significance at the time it was released and how it put Eastwood on the map, but I just don't think this movie is as deserving of the tumultuous praise it always gets. All of that aside, you should watch it at least once! It is Clint Eastwood after all.

the ultimate western
Everything you could ask for when you watch a western: it's exciting and suspenseful, has great actors, fast action and lots of fun. There are some serious moments but plenty of humor. A really fun movie and definitely a classic.
