Could be better
I liked the movie but I missed having a character/relationship map. Several times it wasn't clear who is killing who and why (especially in the case of Paulie and then in the big shootout near the end - took me a minute to realize those were the other mob bosses).
Also, pardon my saying this, but Diane Keaton's acting was underwhelming to say the least.
Otherwise it was a nice window into the "old days' mafia". Liked it a lot for this.

THE GODFATHER: I have always loved watching movies starring MARLON BRANDO, This is one of my favorite movies and I highly recommend it. MARLON always give 110%, and his acting is always very convincing and spot on. I give this movie 5*****STARS.

Boring!Boring!Boring!
Oh my god,what a waste of my time!2 hour 52 minutes of utter Boredom.In my days of watching movies,not many films could make me this infuriated! I started this film thinking that it could be my favorite film of all time,but it turned out to be the 2nd worst movie i have ever seen(the worst being 'apocalypse now' by the same director).If you don't like slow movies you would better not get near this movie(don't let the Imdb rating fool you).Although the cinematic work is fantastic,acting is top notch.But the movie so so boring that i cannot give it more than 1.

BEST Movie
Without a doubt in my mind the number one most known and spoken about film, and with good reason. First off, we have Marlon Brando and Al Pacino, both in their prime, being directed by one of the top 3 greatest directors – Francis Ford Coppola. It captures drama, romance, struggle, power, and loyalty. There have been many Mafia stories and films since the creation of The Godfather, but nothing has ever come close to the brilliance you experience here. It also probably brought about the most quotes to come out of a film, being used on a daily basis. “Make me an offer you cant refuse.”

There, you discover that the darkness has grown to capture the heart of the main character. It's a seductive story of approaching darkness which ends in a thunderstorm of gunfire and a baptism into death. The seed of the father grows best in the dark, and the son reaps a harvest of blood.

What is to be said about The Godfather that hasn't already been said?Hmm...Let me think about this.In truth no combination of words can do this film justice.As anyone one who has seen it will tell you,it's a picture about family and respect.Vito Corleone stuck to his ways and never strayed away from his word.So in return it would only be right to maintain your words as well if you've made negotiations with the Don,right?In the end this is seen as the ultimate mob flick and it's easy to tell why.The Godfather was a man of honor and took pride in his accomplishments but never forgot about the man he truly was.In conclusion if you haven't seen The Godfather than you should pick this one up but who hasn't seen this film,right?

I rented it expecting a good movie... I guess it might be if you can stand some horrible acting by brando in the first part. I had to turn it off after a half hour due to useless dialogue (half of which I couldn't understand from brando anyways)....

So good. It is so good. You could cook it in a ziti and relish the deliciousness for days. The book is superb, and I suppose it's the knowledge of the book that makes me enjoy this movie more than the average person probably does. Really and truly it is brilliant. There's some violence that can be jarring. But not nearly like you get these days with mob movies. It's perfect and beautiful. I always think that people these days will find a movie like this boring and slow. But everyone I show this to for the first time loves it. They watch it with mouth agape in the shape of the word "wow."

A perfect story and perfectly directed movie combination is impossibly rare. If you've been looking to watch such a film, this is pretty much THE one to watch. For me, it's all about Marlon Brando - The Godfather. His acting performance hasn't been topped in a dramatic film, and that is an amazing achievement. You cannot discredit Brando's supporting cast at all, as their acting skills combined are off-the-charts. Most importantly though, Coppola's direction is simply tremendous in The Godfather. You'll never be able to forget some of the incredible scenes in this movie. I could go on and on, but the fact remains that this should be required viewing for every true movie fan.
