AMAZING ,again
They do it again, but better! Things have gotten better than in the first installment of The Godfather – the mafia, the action, the emotions and mostly the power!! We watch Al Pacino grow into the most influential mobster. It is not often that a sequel can be categorized along with its forerunner, but such is the situation. The Corleones live on and prosper.

It felt as if we were going mechanically from plot point A to plot point B, without much of an organic progression. It just didn't work for me.

It's as good as you've heard. Pacino's performance continues to get more nuanced, more human as the series progresses (as do all the other actors.) What really sets this film apart from the first is the incredibly active camera. It's flying all over the place in dolly shots, crane shots and back to dolly shots! Yet it never calls attention to itself or seems self-consious; when that camera is flying, there's a reason! There are a thousand things to say about the Godfather series and most of them have already been said, so, if you haven't seen them, just do it!

the best sequel ever
Who would have thought that a sequel to the masterpiece The Godfather could be the same quality as the first one or even better? that's the case here. Robert De Niro and Al Pacino never gave better performances. it's not just a crime drama, it's a universal story about immigrants, assimilation and rejection. Coppola also criticizes American capitalism in an allegorical way: the rise of the crime family as a metaphor for aggressive capitalist American systems. scenes from the past - like the old don in New York - are shown in a very touching style. The movie is very nostalgic about the past. America is shown at the begining of the movie as the savior of the persecuted, the unfortunate and the poor, while the end represents a post-Watergate, post-Vietnam, lonely America less certain of itself and its future. the music by Nino Rota is unforgettable and it just might be the best movie ever.
