I was easily won over with this one. Besides the fact that Catinca Untaru is utterly adorable, the onscreen chemistry between her and co-star Lee Pace is simply amazing. This is a visual masterpiece done entirely without any special computer effects, and was filmed over a course of four years in over eighteen different countries, sharing some of the most beautiful (and real) scenery you may ever see in a film. The story is a bit dark, though not such a surprise considering Tarsem Singh's last film The Cell. I really enjoyed this movie and will most likely watch it many times over again.

I'm a big fan of movies that feed the imagination. The "story" part of the movie was beautiful. Spectacular scenery and colors.
The way it was told kind of reminded me of the movie Second Hand Lions, where there's a main plot, then the movie cuts to fantastic recounts of a past adventure. I just found that in The Fall, the main plot line was very slow, and didn't meet my expectations. I wish there had been more of the story.
Overall, an enjoyable movie.

THE FALL: I loved this film. This is one of those happy accidents, just sort of stumbled upon this film while browsing. What a gem. The little girl in this movie steals the whole movie in my humble opinion. I highly recommend it. 5*****STARS.

Weird and only vaguely interesting. The hospital scenes were more entertaining than the fantasy story -- which was poorly written -- and I had a hard time connecting with the heroes. Overall, I was unimpressed. The little girl was cute, though.

So close to being "awesome" or "must see"
I really enjoyed this film, and found the girl wildly endearing in a frank, atypical "child actor" kind of way. The imaginative visual fantasy is also fantastic, exquisite even, and I'll definitely watch it again because of that. My only complaint...

I really enjoyed this film, and found the girl wildly endearing in a frank, atypical "child actor" kind of way. The imaginative visual fantasy is also fantastic, exquisite even, and I'll definitely watch it again because of that. My only complaint is that there was a little too much "magic" and not enough "realism". I felt like the adult storyline fell a little flat, or chickened out a bit...for example, I didn't quite buy Roy's despair, or his reasons for it. If they had gone full board with his background (not a stuntman, and not a bad breakup, but something really tragic), then I think this movie would've been a true masterpiece. As it was, definitely stunning and gorgeous to watch, not quite "there", but altogether worthwhile.

This film is an extremely frustrating exercise in unrealized potential. Tarsem Singh is capable of creating breathtaking scenes in which his use of color is fantastic. Some of the locations they used in this film were just beautifully unique. The beauty of this film never approached that of Herzog, Parajanov or Jodorowsky, but there was enough in it to make me think Singh might be capable of matching those filmmakers in the future. The story ended up annoying me, though. It just kept droning on and on, it seemed to lack internal continuity in a way that I didn't think was purposeful and the ending of this movie just struck me as stupid. Singh would've done better to chuck the complex story and just weave in more Herzogian long takes to intoxicate our eyes. I can't say that I didn't like this film, but I was very disappointed by its failure to capitalize on the great potential it had.
