Surprisingly awful
I can't believe how this movie has such a high rating on imdb. It's honestly one of the worst films I've ever seen. Terrible humour, annoyingly slow - paced, and - most importantly - I couldn't stand watching Jacques Villeret. Although the movie was relatively short (1 hr and 16 min) I tried very hard to watch it until the end.

I thought this movie was hilarious. Thankfully the translation seems pretty solid, though I'm sure I'm missing some of the finer subtleties in the original language.
This movie won't appeal to viewers who expect big budget, fast paced films. The movie almost entirely takes place in a single apartment with a few characters.
It's a real gem, though, very glad I watched it. I'm hesitant to watch the American remake now, as I can only imagine that they've butchered what makes this movie special.
Great acting by all... the story may be a bit predictable, but there's nothing wrong with that as long as it's solid, which this certainly is.

"THE DINNER GAME" is the type of comedy that the French have been pulling off well since Moliere. It concerns a group of well-to-do Parisian men who occasionally get together for special dinners with one rule: Each man has to bring a complete idiot for a dinner guest -- a bore, a mono-maniac, a dufus who thinks he's clever, nearly any moron will do. Another dinner date has been set, and publisher Pierre thinks he's found the perfect jerk: an auditor who's fixated on building matchstick monuments. We never actually get to the dinner -- Pierre throws out his back, and this sets up a chain of events between him and his idiot that's a comedy of errors and role reversals. It's all light-hearted fun, different, and nice and short at 81 minutes.

made a huge impression on me
I saw this movie when I was a teenager and I thought it was great. Funny, witty and original, it's not a well-known movie and I strongly recommend seeing it if you haven't.

One of the best comedy-of-errors I've seen
there isn't really much to say: a smart and hilarious French movie, wonderful performance by Jacques Villeret. if you want have a good time, it's something you should watch.
