This is one of the best real horror movies I've ever seen. A classic. Absolutely terrifying. Not at all what I expected. Practically zero sexploitation. Lots of girl power.

Although well filmed with an attractive cast, this is a predictable, formulaic monsters-in-the-dark horror movie, at times ridiculous and campy. It ultimately adds nothing to the genre save gouts of gratuitous gore in the unrated version.

I liked this movie a lot. Granted, the beginning moves a bit slow, but it does build up the backstory of the main character as well as give you insight into the characters. But after that, it begins to roll faster into the scares and tension. I like...

I liked this movie a lot. Granted, the beginning moves a bit slow, but it does build up the backstory of the main character as well as give you insight into the characters. But after that, it begins to roll faster into the scares and tension. I like movies with less gore and more tension and this has a good balance leaning more towards tension and all our fear. The ending may leave some people very unhappy but all in all its better than most of the horror movies out.

First thing to state is that this is a movie that is jarring and while it had hype leading up to the dvd release I have to say that it was worth it. This might not be for everyone but if you enjoy Texas Chainsaw Massacre and Blair Witch type of movies then jump at this one. I love those films and this movie still had a disturbing edge to it. I can't write much without giving away anything but this is not your typical horror film. In my humble opinion, both Little Miss Sunshine and The Descent are nice gems in 06 though they are very different films.

I don't get it. I'm not sure why this movie has received such praise. At best, it's a mediocre horror film with a plot we've seen before and "scare tactics" that are almost cliche. While the movie tried to offer some character development, it fell short. I don't think I cared about any of the women there, and with the darkness and the pace, I wasn't usually sure which one even died.
This would have been a 3-star movie, until the end. I'm not even sure I quite understood it, but from what I think I know -- it completely ruined the film for me. Well.. ok.. actually it made it a 2 star movie instead of a 3 star.
