Title
This film is close to the original magazine in harshness, before mainstream got a hold of it and made it nice. This movie is surprisingly good and not like any other batman movie I've seen come out. Not for young kids at all.

I was careless enough to see it with my kids: they didn't enjoy it and I was afraid they'd have nightmares.
The title and positioning are deceiving, it's a scandal this movie is rated PG-13. Beware!

This movie is ridiculous, no doubt about it. But the point people sometimes seem to miss is that it is meant to be ridiculous. Sure, the movie is painted as a dark, gritty, realistic world, but, it really isnt. It is a movie about a man dressed up as a bat, beating up bad guys, and chasing a man dressed as a clown. Its glorious. Comicbooks, have, for a long time, presented themselves as gritty, or dark, and The Dark Knight takes that idea and puts it on film. Batman Begins, in a way, redefined what a comicbook movie should be, but The Dark Knight redefined what a comicbook movie could be. Christopher Nolan saw that Batman taps into the archetypes of the classic film-noir, and decided to put that spin on it - to the extreme. Everything in this movie is extreme: the action, the acting, the dialogue, the story, the characters, everything is extreme and very dramatic, almost to the point of being goofy. Well, it is goofy, seriously, just look at the scenes where Batman is talking with Jim Gordon about the fate of Gotham City, its ridiculous, absolutely ridiculous, and yet it takes itself very seriously. I love it. It is as if the comicbook just leapt from the page to the screen. Really, besides a few minor pacing issues, this film is nearly perfect: Easily the best film from 2008. Yeah, Im looking at you Slumdog Millionaire.

The Dark Knight takes you deep into the soul of what Batman should look like. It shows you the side of what people won't admit - people hate the hero and want someone who will not reveal what they really are in life. With that, take in a dark thrill ride of superbolous acting and astounding visuals and you have a truthfully entertaining film.

I was really looking forward to seeing the latest production as soon as it hit the theaters. But I found it somewhat overrated. I know it's practically heresy to feel this way, and I do realize it could have been a case of high expectations. Still, there were a few other reasons. But first, the good things--and there was plenty. Heath Ledger was hands-down the best thing about this film. Brilliantly disturbing, he most definitely stole the show and surely deserves a posthumous Oscar for his work. The film's art direction was fantastic and the flying scenes breathtaking, as were the Gotham cityscape that are always so fun in Batman movies. And all the height scenes were great. Aaron Eckhart was excellent as Harvey Dent, and as Two-face, scary as hell. I wished Morgan Freeman had more scenes since he always enhances any film he's in. Maggie G. was captivating as always, but frankly not that interesting a character. I know that's how the comic-book Rachel is supposed to be (?) but the fragile waif persona is just not that engaging in a fictional character. Surprisingly, the fight and chase scenes were the most generic of all. I found myself actually getting bored. And the film was too long. Lastly, Christian Bale fell completely flat for me. Not sure what it is about Bale... Maybe he just seemed too haggard, broody. But without enough dimension to make him all that compelling. Not unlike Rachel. Tormented & broody is fine, but there *has* to be enough depth & substance in the protagonist (besides being the good guy) to make you bond with him and not merely root for him. Broody for the sake of broody is just...tiresome. I guess for me, Michael Keaton is still the real Batman. You wanted to get to know that guy. Call me too hung-up on Robert Downey, Jr. , but when it comes to superheroes, my heart still belongs to 'Iron Man'. ~NN

We Hated this movie! It was way too long, to be sure, but also had some of the worst music ever in a film and half the time one could not understand what the characters were whispering or growling. Christian Bale is a terrible Batman, but not even a good Bruce Wayne. The Joker was awful, ugly, a crazy guy with no style, no fun. Two-face was too grotesque, his skin should just be burned not melted to the bone. And the batmobile gets destroyed, but SOMEHOW a motorcycle is created from 2 of the wheels?? The plot holes were too numerous to count, the mis-casting was insane, and it was set in more of a nasty NYC than a dark moody gotham. This film is a mess, avoid at all costs. Don't waste 150 minutes of your life.

The Dark Knight was going to be a flop, or so I thought. I watched it when it came out and even though I had it set in my mind that it was going to suck, I walked out with a new appretiation for movies, acting in general, and Chris Nolan. The movie offers histories best movie villians and he isn't in more than 13 scenes in the whole things. I am an avid Batman fan and never thought it would be fully expressed in movie form but I am happy to announce that I was so terribly wrong. If you have not seen this movie yet, please do so immediately. Just make sure that you have a moist towel, a chicken burrito, and the time to take a nap afterwards because you will have an orgasm.

A movie that wonderfully depicts what a dull and rigid character Batman is. A movie that made me cross my fingers for the villain. Not even the visual effects can make the holes in the plot disappear -- the sonar system taken over but not used by Joker. If Bruce has a zillion dollars is it really the most effective way for him to fight for justice with his fists? And the whole long story contained at least three endings.
On the plus side, Heath Ledger deserved the Oscar for his Joker.

Amazing
I have not seen many Batman movies, just Batman Begins and the Dark Knight, but I think that this movie is amazing. Although the movie is fairly long, it doesn't seem to drag along. Just about every scene seems important, and the action is very good. The special effects are great and it is a very exciting and serious movie, even if it has some jokes thrown in by Alfred. I think every actor in the movie was good, but Heath Ledger was amazing as the Joker, and he seemed like a very serious murderer. Overall, if you have not seen this movie, I highly recommend it, even if you don't particularly like the Batman.
