An odd movie but worth a look. Brad Pitt is really good as usual assuming that's actually him in the movie & not pure CG. Either way the aging effects are some of the best I've seen. A cool story well executed.

I watched this movie knowing only that Brad Pitt, played a character that is born old and gets young as the years go by. And also that Cate Blanchett was the love interest in the movie. That being said I was pleasantly surprised to see that Tilda Swinton was also in this movie and another love interest to the character played by Brad Pitt. OK, I liked the movie, but it was not really a Wow-You-Over, or a Gosh-Darn That was a helluva movie. It was a good movie, interesting story line, a Beautiful Cate Blanchett and a wonderful Tilda Swinton. I would recommend it.

The Curious Case of Benjamin Button is the worst high production value movie I have ever wasted my time watching. In fact, I'm convinced that with less money, a much better movie could have been produced. For example, there is simply not 166 minutes of material. Sure, the 100 minutes of absoluetely nothing happening is filled with beautiful scenery, but the 66 minutes of plot rattling around in the bottom of the 166 minute can is a mix of unmotivated and nearly random actions taken by a character who is only sympathetic because he's the focus, not because the viewer relates to his hum-drum mentality.

For 45 minutes in the second act, director David Fincher forced it upon the audience to know that Benjamin Button (Brad Pitt) and Daisy (Cait Blanchett) love each other. I gathered that the three instances where it was stated "I loved her the minute I saw her." I found a lot of script simply forced and drawn out to the point where I almost felt insulted. Audiences can sense the emotions within the story and the relationship complexities on screen. They do not need to be spelled out, which is what this movie does. Perhaps that's why it is so very long.
The cast is excellent, but the story isn't strong enough to make it a worth-while film -- and a two-hour one at that. Save yourself some money and rent this one when it comes out. I went into the theater with great expectations based on Pitt's more recent work. I left disappointed at a movie that had a great concept, but a laboring screenplay. Three stars.

An absolutely criminal waste of the talents of anyone involved in this movie. Avoid at all costs. It desperately tries to extract the sentimentality of Forrest Gump and transplant it to a movie where the viewer will find themsleves helplessly searching for an emotional bridge to engage with the characters. The movie limps around lifelessly and even has the audacity to weave its skeletal plot through significant historical periods without the depth to ask the viewer or the characters to sympathise/empathise with the period. Awful!!!

After first watching the trailer for this film, I certainly had lofty expectations.
After watching the film, I realize that it didn't meet my expectations fully, but close enough.
Benjamin Button (Brad Pitt) is born with the physical characteristics of an 80 year old, and ages backwards.
He forms a friendship with a girl named Daisy who becomes his love intrest later in life.
The technical prowess involved is incredible, Pitt plays the character throughout every stage in Benji's life.
They add some content to the screenplay to fill up the 166 min. running time, but overall, the story is fine.
The film isn't the classic some claim, but not the train wreck a few hyperexaggerating critics claim.

Much better than expected, "THE CURIOUS CASE OF BENJAMIN BUTTON" boasts a compelling story. It's main feat, however, is its originality -- the story's hero is born an old man who gets younger as he ages. It's doubtful that there'll be spate of movies like it! But this begs the question, or questions: (1) What does it get you to tell the story this way? And (2) did they really need three long hours to tell it?

What a wonderful story about life and the experiences we have which make and define who we become as we grow old. Through this unique and cleverly written story you follow Benjamin throughout his backwards and sometimes quirky life as he turns from a adult to a boy. This story touches on the age old philosophy that life is finite and we should all enjoy what life has to offer us today as its all just a series of experiences that leave as quickly as once they came. I can not see a reason someone could not enjoy this cinematic masterpiece. The writing, cinematography, and design are all equally excellent. Make sure to rent Babble staring both actors to see Cate & Brad's electric chemistry together again.

I was intrigued by this film just from the trailer, but because of the hype that it was one of the best films of 2008, I went to the theater with low expectations. I was hooked from the beginning of the film until the end of the film and I didnt want the movie to end. The story, special effects, characters, and the music were amazing. The transformation or special effects of Benjamin Button was incredible and I felt like I was seeing the world through his eyes.
