Darios (Rory Calhoun) is a military man who has just returned to the city, where he attempts to engage in a relationship with Diala (Lea Massari), the daughter of the man who built the statue. But Darios's dalliances with a gang of local rebels upsets the equilibrium in the city and--aided by the coincidental eruption of an earthquake--chaos breaks out.
