Summary of The Boondock Saints

Fraternal twins Conner (Flanery - SUICIDE KINGS) and Murphey (Reedus - GOSSIP) MacMannus are on a mission from God to rid Boston of crime. However, instead of signing up for the police force, these hard-drinking Irish-American brothers take the law into their own hands a la Charles Bronson in DEATH WISH. Heralded as saints by the city's beleaguered residents, the brothers also attract the attention of Paul Smecker (Dafoe - EXISTENZ), the openly gay FBI special agent assigned to investigate the spate of killings amongst the ranks of the Russian mafia. First-time director Duffy pulls out all the breaks in this inventive, action-packed thriller sure to please fans of HARD BOILED and RESERVOIR DOGS.

Critics Reviews

The Onion (A.V. Club)
As written and directed by newcomer Troy Duffy, The Boondock Saints is all style and no substance, a film so gleeful in its endorsement of vigilante justice that it almost veers (or ascends) into self-parody.
Variety
More interested in finding fresh ways to stage execution scenes than in finding meaning behind the human urge for self-appointed righting of wrongs, (the film) is stuffed with effects that have no lasting impact.

Worth 2 hours of your spare time
This film is entertaining and funny. The plot doesn't develop well, and is a bit stupid, especially towards the end but as you watch it you enjoy the scenes for themselves. In this kind of film it's the characters that make the movie interesting...
It is so-well-made!
Pleasure to watch. Scenes are totally complete. Many times I was thinking to myself "Yes! That's the perfect moment to end this scene!" And it was weird, I never noticed this kind of thing in other movies. Actors did their job perfectly as well...
