The movie was such a reminder that there are mediocre X-Files episodes. Though it was great to see these characters back again, I can honestly say that I was disappointed like a fat kid who dropped his honey bun in the mud puddle and the teacher I had a crush on stomped it. Good try. As a stand alone thriller, it was good. I wanted to believe they could bring this back from the dead, but Chris Carter is dead and, now, the X-Files is officially closed with no hopes of re-opening.

I'm a huge X-Files fan. Watched the entire series again in the past few months, culminating in Season 9 all in the last week. Just got back from the midnight screening...could not be more disappointed. I hated what they were doing with Scully's character for the last two years of the series, but this weakened her even more. Mulder was cool, but his motivations and feelings were inconsistent and just didn't feel right. The movie is preachy about religion and stem cell research. Carter's gone off the deep end. The story doesn't really have any element of the supernatural in it, it's not scary, there is no suspense, and worse, nothing is ever at stake. The big conflicts are the lives of an anonymous FBI agent that we have no reason to care about, as do Mulder and Scully, and a boy that Scully is treating. The plot of the boy is fine, but not for the X-Files. The ending is also the same as the series. If you're an X-Files fan, see it because you have to. If you don't HAVE to see it, skip it. Go rent Season 1.

At one point Scully google's brain surgery. That's right, she gets on the computer, and google's the operation shes about to perform. Yes I to want to believe, that'll I'll get my $10 back from having seen this trash in the theaters. But you know what? I never will.

I was disappointed with this movie so much. I am an avid X-Files fan. I watched every season & the previous movie as well as buying all of the seasons & the last movie. So of course I wanted to see this movie. I had heard it was pretty mediocre but I just thought that those people weren't real XF fans. Then I watched the movie & understood. I swear I was getting bored before the halfway mark. I can't say there was anything wrong with Duchovny or Anderson's performances. It was the story. It was just boring. There was nothing about it that said "X-File!" to me. By the end I was thinking "what the heck was that really even about???". Also Scully's sideplot of a sick child in her care is just an annoyance. I felt like it honestly served no purpose. I hate to admit it but the gag reel was more entertaining than the whole movie.

4/10Disappointing
As one who was a faithful fan of the original series I cannot help but feel let down by this latest attempt. Quite honestly the story was too far out there, even for x-files. At times the acting was a bit wooden and predictable, at other times is was more sophomoric and lacked sufficient seriousness. And IMO the old spark was simply not there this time around between Mulder and Skully, no matter how hard they tried. As the plot thickens you try to suspend disbelief, waiting with baited breath for the magical reveal. Only, for me, instead of an Ah Ha! moment, mine was more of an "You Have Got to be Kidding Me?" moment. Totally unsatisfying...

I wanted to enjoy I WANTED TO BELIEVE, but it was pretty hard. With a preposterous plot and much psychic mumbo-jumbo between Mulder and Scully, this film can only appeal to fans of the TV show and even they will be disappointed.
