Tenacious D in: The Pick of Destiny, 2006

Big dumb fun! I haven't laughed out loud at a comedy in a long time - this one did the trick. It ain't Shakespeare, but I highly recommend this if you need to see something funny and aren't easily offended. ROCK!

If you're a fan of Tenacious D, you've probably already seen this film. If your not, you probably shouldn't bother. This film sets out with one purpose, to offend as many people as possible. Jack and Kyle have their usual witty banter, which kept me interested enough to finish the film.

I had my doubts as to whether Tenacious D would be able to translate their rock-comedy act into a succesful feature film. Consider those doubts erased. This movie is funny!! The plot is absolutely ridiculous, and in this movie, that's a good thing! This is pure fun from start to finish (with just a few tiny slow points and large gags that fall flat). Kyle Gass is surprisingly good in his role, which, moreso than Black's character, requires a bit of real acting. The cameos are great: John C. Reilly is always a treat, as well as Meatloaf. But be on the lookout for Tim Robbins: he steals the show with his few scenes.
