Summary of Talk of Angels
Based on Kate O'Brien's novel "Mary Lavelle," this film provides a visually seductive tale of conflicting cultures and intense passions set to the backdrop of the Spanish Civil War. When a young Irish woman promised to be married to a political activist escapes to Spain to avoid the marriage, she finds work as a governess for a wealthy Spanish family. However, she also finds intense attraction to a married man, also a political activist, involved in the revolution against Franco. This romantic symmetry leads her to self-discovery, and a resolution about the love she left in Ireland.
