In addition to the minimum age, the MPAA should rate this movie with a maximum age of 25.... so this movie would be PG-13-25. The story and plot have all been done before ad nauseum, so maybe a 25 year old would still find this tripe engaging. I don't think the lead actors used are much older than 20, and I suppose that this *is* a comic book movie after all, so that's the target audience.
I thought that the effects in the first Superman from the 70's were a bit cheesy (people "flew" like they were on cables), but over 25 years later, the "special effects" used in this one are even cheesier. Why do those CGI programmers have such a hard time with basic Newtonian physics? Must be our declining education system, I suppose.

I disliked this movie when I first saw it. Now, in my second viewing, I downright hate it. Brandon Rouths Superman is utterly devoid of charisma or any other redeeming character traits, Lois Lane is an immature, backstabbing, lying woman who is also a horrible mother (who takes their son to a random boat of a suspected criminal!?), Cyclops plays the same backseat role he played as Cyclops in the X-men films except without any of his former coolness, and almost worst of all, Kevin Spacey does nothing memorable with the character of Lex Luthorhis plan is ridiculous and his characters depth is paper thin.
You would think that at least a movie like this would be redeemed by incredible action scenes, but this even lacks in that area. The city feels lifeless and devoid of true personality, thereby making any threat on the city feel neutered of its true emotional potential. It also doesnt help that the majority of the film is cast with a dark green hue that contributes to the films overly, and unnecessary, somber mood.

My favorite parts were the opening credits when they played the John Williams march and the end when they played it again and he was flying through the clouds. I went with mixed expectations. I think Brian Singer is a genius and I was ready to follow him into you know where. I thought the casting was great and the shots of Clark as a by were interesting but the whole movie is centered around the romantic struggle between Lois Lane and Superman and the weak villian plot could not be more of a sideshow. I also was enraged that Singer failed to keep my interest through about 92% of the movie.

superman is back. the theme music gives me goosebumps everytime I hear it. Spacey was great playing Lex. Good storyline and plenty of fun special effects. Christopher Reed would have been proud at this effort. It carries the Superman legacy very well and leaves you waiting for the next one to come out.
