Summary of Strictly Ballroom

A top ballroom dancer pairs with a plain, left-footed local girl when his maverick style earns him the disdain of his more conventionally-minded colleagues. Together, the team gives it their all and makes dreams of the National Championship title come true. Directed in a delicious high-key style by director Luhrmann (WILLIAM SHAKESPEARE'S ROMEO + JULIET) in his madcap debut.

Critics Reviews

Rolling Stone
Luhrmann is a director with the style and snap to have these tired routines on their feet and kicking like a line of Rockettes.
Variety
Within the confines of this tried-and-true formula, Luhrmann has concocted a feel-good entertainment, which is lively, original (in an old-fashioned sort of way) and charming.

I have just read some of the most wonderful reviews about this movie, this is a movie that is loved by many people. I just want to add my voice to the chorus. I love it, I watch it constantly, on cable and I bought the movie so that I would always...
It started out really campy, and I was a bit concerned (I'm not a camp movie type). I stuck with it though and it toned way down. I especially liked the (not sure of the spelling) Spanish "Pasa Doble" scene. I still could only rate it 2 stars...
