All Style, No Substance
Beautiful animation pumped full of sleazy Hollywood machismo and a weak plot does not make for a good film. Mickey Rourke's role and the dark, creative animation make it worth seeing, but take it all with a grain of salt.
This is one of those movies which I guess would look grander, darker and thrilling-er on the ol' 70 mm than on dvd. This B&W feel-alike of Kill Bill, is about life in a city having no soul. The story is engagingly off-beat, and perhaps is of little...
Robert Rodriguez is all about the gore, the lovely, or the story, in that order of importance. He can do all three very very well, but never more than one at the same time. The stories in his kid movies are good, with kids showing real toughness...
This is the worst movie I have seen in quite a while. Poor acting, even by Bruce Willis, is continuously accompanied by extreme, pornographic violence. (A bit of wholesome sex would be welcome!) The animation is poor. Give it a miss and your day...
Gritty would be the word I'd use to best sum up the way I feel towards this Frank Miller adaptation.A set of three stories unraveling themselves and using the classic film noir style as we sit up in our chairs staring at the thrills taking place...
I was so excited to see this movie. I couldn't wait to see how they used this filming concept with the talent of A-list actors.... yet I found myself wanting more. I suppose the best comparison I could make would be with Pulp Fiction. They both are...
Sin City requires only a brief review. This movie takes you on an excellent dark ride. Not for kids or left minded people as there is violence "and" imaginative plots that require one to think and pay attention. If you are a true fan of the Macabre...
Big, loud and audacious. Just as it should be. After early hollywood misfires (see Robocop 2, 3), Frank Miller hits paydirt here (by finally partnering up with people who won't undercut him every step of the way). The original contrasty artwork is...
A visual treat from the very first frame to the last. Having grown up a fan of the Frank Miller graphic novel I wasn't sure what to expect upon entering the theather but this one certainly did not let me down. The film is perfectly cast and...
special movie
i loved this movie! highly original, rough and stylish. an amazing experience. it's ranked as one of the 100 best films of all times and i couldn't agree more. Mickey Rourke is great here and also Clive Owen. it's violent but much more than that...
