I was completely into this movie (not documentary), until they go to Cuba to brag about the healthcare there. The moment those lies were told, I had to question the validity of every other case shown. To say that Cubans have access to better healthcare is an absurd abstraction of the truth. The healthcare shown is that provided for tourist. Nothing in Cuba happens without the eye of the "comandante", just note the soldiers in uniform at the hospital where the tourists are being tended to.

What is this.
I couldn't watch past the part extolling the Canadian healthcare system from fear of having my breakfast fly up my esophagus. Having many Canadian relatives (who are incidentally liberal), I have heard stories of the Canadian healthcare system. The operation mortality rate is far higher than that of the US (an acquaintance dies of complications of toe surgery: the Canadian doctors refused to acknowledge the post-surgery swelling as unnatural and the patient died a few days after), and the hospital/clinic wait times are nothing like what Moore portrays in his film. The wait times are infamous.
To be sure, the American healthcare system is flawed, yes; it's an avenue for innovation, for the development of cheaper and more efficient healthcare systems. But don't expect private insurance companies to work at a loss; only the government can do that without remorse. My point is, don't take everything Michael Moore says without some skepticism. His argument for the nationalization of American healthcare does far from present both sides of the debate.

This is by far Moore's best film to date. This movie will break your heart and make you laugh. It will leave you outraged and wanting to take action. It will make you want to leave the United States.
Moore sits back and lets the stories speak for themselves in this film. The horrors the characters experience you would not wish on your worst enemy.
People are dying because of the US health care system It's unreal. How can the US be so far behind the UK, France and even Cuba? It makes no sense.
This is a great film. Highly recommend.

I'm a big, big fan of Michael Moore's work. Every one of his films has moved me deeply. That said, I think this is his best film.
The subject matter of this film touches each and every American. No doubt about it. It is true that he showed some people without healthcare in the beginning and then said "but this film is not about them," but he brings them back later to make his points, and he does a good job of that.
This film is infuriating, and anyone who saw it, learned anything, and is still against health care reform is just an idiot, IMO.
The features are also excellent. I loved the music, and the interviews were fascinating and very inspiring. Also, despite his dry humor, Moore handles all of his subjects (I have found this to be true through all of his films) with the utmost respect and sensitivity. The humor makes the material engaging, but the message is always strong.
If I found out he was teaching, I'd go to film school. I think Moore is brilliant!

Oh yeah, this is accurate. One thing we can always depend on is unbiased accurate portrayls of Moore's sub]ects.

I am a new fan of Michael Moore and this is one of my favorites. This documentary could have gone on for hours and hours and I still would have watched it.

This film enraged me. I mean, really, REALLY enraged me at the health care industry, and it will probably enrage you too. Moore really knows how to find our buttons and push them. However, the telling of the story here grows a bit tiresome. Moore just keeps throwing more and more episodic stories at us, never really letting us get to know each story intimately, or really advancing his point much. Still, I'm glad this exists and hope that it in at least some small way can get change to begin.

"Sicko" is a tad longer than it needs to be and occasionally director Michael Moore strays off-topic, but it's altogether an excellent and relatively (for Moore) objective overview of health care in the U.S. The film not only is good at personalizing the problem through stories from doctors, administrators and citizens, but also at comparing the way it's done (much better!) in Europe. Even if you think you've already seen a lot of this film in the many clips shown on TV during the director's press blitz, there's still a lot to see, a lot that's humorous, a lot that'll get you angry about how Americans have been bamboozled into accepting such awful yet expensive health-care coverage (or the lack of it). Bravo!
