loved it
wow i dont know where to start this film i just loved. the storyline was predictable to me but most are nowadays anyways. the acting was brilliant and Mark Wahlberg was perfect in the movie. the writing and directing just really connects u to the film even more, after i finished watching i just wanted to join up to a shooting club coz thats how much of a pull the movie had on me.. the action was right on and wasnt overdone at all it was just right..the special effects used was done very smoothly it felt like this film just glided from start to finish with nothing to critic on

Mark Wahlberg is good as a Matt Damon/Jason-Bourne-type character. His character is cool enough, and does some impressive action. I liked that they showed the audience all the skills, strategizing and meticulousness that go into being snipers. The weaknesses of this film are the poorly-drawn, boring villain(s) and the cliched plot developments. These, plus the uniformity of the level of tension, make the story completely suspense-less. Watch if you like the Jason Bourne Trilogy movies (starring Matt Damon), or if you like a lot of action and don't need any real stories driving it.

This is one of the worst films I have ever seen. The execution of the plot is atrocious, the action scenes are just ok (and frankly there aren't enough of them), and the acting is bad. Marky Mark mumbles his way through most of the movie while his male co-star was mind numbingly terrible. The women in this movie looked good but had little else to do. Boris from Snatch gives the best performance as a wheelchair bound sniper.
I advise you to avoid this film at all costs. Its not even a good action film and has little to no redeeming value as a film.

Why didn't he check more into the men who came to him in the first place? Why didn't he tell the girl not to go back home after she helped him? Why didn't the bad guys mention that she had made a 911 call? Why did the bad guys have to go to an isolated cabin to gloat? Most of these I can overlook. But the thing about not going home after you help a fugitive, that should be a requirement in movies like this. What makes it worse is that the two main characters actually have a conversation before parting ways - "They are going to keep hunting you down" she says to him. He's just like, "I'm gonna bring it to 'em!" Not a word about, hey, best not go home or they'll get you too. Oh, and they snuff a senator. Geez!

I was surprised to see Mark Wahlberg's character framed for an attempted presidential assignation. For such a smart gunny, his instincts were really off the mark. However, I really enjoyed watching how he survived and brought the bad guys to justice by the end of the movie. Unfortunately for me, watching this movie made me want to see another Wahlberg movie so I just finished watching 'FEAR' which is my all-time favorite Mark Wahlberg movie. Regardless, Shooter was action-packed and a great Friday night movie.

If you miss Stallone's Rambo then rent this and you'll be happy. While it's full of action and kept me awake alot of what takes place is cheezy and redundant. This could have been a good movie and I mean it COULD have been. This movie would have been a hit in the 80's or even 90's but movie fans are alot more savvy now and want something more than an anti-superhero killing all the bad men in the world. I really wanted to like this film based on previews but it was the same ol formula you have seen before on basic cable.
